We'll Always Have Summer

    In the book We'll Always Have Summer, by Jenny Han, the main character, Isabel (belly) is in a state of denial. The book is making me think about all of the reasons people get into this state. What situations in life cause people to deny things that they know are true.
    One of the first things that come into mind when I think about denial, is when someone is in court and they're being prosecuted for various crimes. More often than not, people claim not guilty. But in the case of this book, Belly is in denial about which one of the Fisher boys she's truly in love with. But once one of them proposes to her, she's really confused.

Is it Elowyn or is it Arabeth?

    In the book called Heart to Heart, a 15 year old girl named Elwyn died, leaving her best friend, Kassey and her boyfriend Wyatt behind. But ever since Arabeth's heart transplant, Arabeth has been noticing that something is really changing. She starts writing with her left hand, even though she's right-handed. (Elowyn was left-handed) She starts craving Chunky Monkey ice cream, which she never liked before, and she even finds herself using the same catch-phrases Elowyn used to use without even noticing.
    This has proven to be a problem because Kassey feels a connection to her even though they'd never mwt a day in their lives, and Wyatt starts taking an interest. But it's all because they see Elowyn whenever they see Arabeth, not Arabeth herself. I thin that this isn't good because it seems like they're just using her a way to be clos to Elowyn, considering the fact that she now holds Elowyns heart.

Water for Elephants: The real Mr. Jankowski

   Water for Elephants is a story told from the point of view of Jacob Jankowski, who is currently ninety-three years old. He's everything that old people usually are: feisty and hilariously rude to there caretakers. But underneath his crabby surface, we start to notice a person who cares about little things, a person who misses his wife like mad, and a person who would do anything to walk down just one flight of stairs.
   But all Mr. Jankowski has are his memories of working in the circus as a vet after his parents died on a train fire. He starts remembering those memories whenever he dozes off. but when he wakes up again and looks at himself in the mirror, at the old man's body who's taken over Jacob. Who is he now?
   As much as Jacob hates the idea of being old, he knows he has to deal with it. So he made a promise to himself to start being nice to his caretaker, Rosemary. You wouldn't believe how long it took him to remember her name every time she walked in, but he finally got it, he doesn't want anyone to think that he's senile because he really isn't.
   I haven't finished this book yet, but I do know that probably by the end of this book, Jacob will be a lot less sour.
   

My Sonnet

                                                         Before I fall from the great big tree,

This Lullaby

  The main character Remy, needs to work on her character and her relationships with others. Because her mom has had so many different husbands (5!!) Remy doesn't think that there is even a thing called love. I know that it's probably hard to de-condition herself from what she's been surrounded by her entire life, but it's not fair to think of Dexter, a boy who really likes her, as just a temporary summer relationship. In my opinion, I think that people like that shouldn't be in a relationship at all...period.
  It's rare that I find characters where i strongly disagree with every last thing they say or think, but this is definatley one of them. Inside, like, really deep deep down inside, I know that Remy has a heart and it's slowly showing each day that goes by when she's with Dexter, and he notices it too.
  Just to digres a little bit, I think that most of Sarah Dessen's characters are easy to figure out and what the endings going to be are usaully no-brainers, but this one is a little tricky which is pretty good.
   Remy continues to have to remind herself not to put her heart into the relationship has to mean something because unlike the other boyfriends she's had, she can't seem to remember that Dexter's not important to her which obviously means that he is important to her after all.

North of Beautiful: Jacob vs. Terra

   The book North of Beautiful is really good. There's the typical control freak girl who has all the looks but with one major flaw. She has a port wine stain that she was born with, it's like a birthmark but it stretches all across her face. Terra runs into Jacob when she nearly kills him while driving, and he's the only one who never stared or said anything about her birthmark.
   There are some major differences between Jacob and Terra but they seem to understand each other more than anyone else does. Jacob's more of the cool and collected go with the flow person, but with their two very different personalities, I think that they balance each other out. It gets to the piont where you start to wonder why they haven't known each other all of their lives.

Review Of Alli's blogpost

     I liked Alexandria N.'s blogpost, http://book--sparks.blogspot.com/ because she put a poem that she found that she felt related to the book, or the point she was making about the book and explained it. I liked how she used something from another source other than the book itself to prove her point about the characters.I think that I can learn a lot about how I can better improve my blogpost because to be honest, I haven't had much inspiration on how to make them better.
    Something alse that I really liked about Alexandria's post is how before just putting the poem on there and then explaining how it related to the book, she first told the reader the reason why she chose it and how even though she had read the book before, had found something that still spoke to her in another way. I can relate to that because more often then not, I choose to read a book and it's really good, but I see things differently than I did the first time reading it. I think more about what the characters are feeling beyond the pages and the words that the author is describing to me, and I think that as a reader it's really important to do that.
    Another thing that made me choose to write about Alexandria's post was how she broke up each section of the poem and explained how it related to her point, she never lost focus on her goal and what she was trying to convey to the reader's. She spoke about how each part of the poem effected a character specifically or how that portion of the poem related to how the characters were feeling at the time.
    I think that Alli is a very strong writer, and I enjoyed reading her post very much.
